Great podcast to listen to as you play along
There’s a website (https://1001albumsgenerator.com) where you get assigned a random record from “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die” every day and can leave a review of it and I have been doing that and really enjoying it, and this podcast really complements that activity. When I get assigned a record, I listen to it and jot down my thoughts and then search “1001” and the album title and listen to what these yahoos think about it. I disagree with a lot of their opinions but they are fairly well thought out and rarely ever knee-jerk and dismissive. They mostly try to honestly engage with the music and make an effort to appreciate it (except for the loud drunk guy) even if it’s not really their thing. I have to echo every other reviewer in saying that hearing the guy that reads the album descriptions at the beginning takes me back to English class where you were dreading when it’s the illiterate kid’s turn to read because you experience secondhand embarrassment from hearing him struggle through his assigned paragraph. But those quibbles aside, this is a very good podcast and if you like listening to people talk about music then you might really enjoy it.

It’s a great concept, ineptly handled. The emphasis seems to be whether the discussants LIKE the albums rather than their contribution or history. The conversation often begins with sweeping pronouncements about how much the folks dislike a whole genre. The banter is annoying, and the...Read full review »

I like the podcast when you actual discuss the album of the episode title. However, you seem to digress into a long winded conversation about racism or feminism on each episode. Often talking about only a couple of the album tracks. This was not the case before the emergence of the woke outrage...Read full review »
