Quite an achievement--a finely cut jewel
I ended up a History major at university and love reading and exploring new topics with audiobooks, books, and now podcasts. This professor has it all over most of the windbags teaching undergrads today. The lectures are concise, clear, and aimed at non-academics (important because academics speak in jargon and lingo and don't end up actually saying much that is intelligible or worth hearing). This is a finely cut jewel of a podcast and, like some other reviewers, I hope he does more. Also, if you're a subscriber to the 'great man' hypothesis, you'll really enjoy this podcast. Byzantine history is a gap in my learning (I stopped at the fall of the Western Empire in 476 A.D.) and this lecture series has been a wonderful way to fill it. Thanks, Professor Brownworth!Read full review »
