History brought to life
Someone told me that podcasts were a great way to learn... and they were right! I have a passing interest in this period of history and always wanted to know more. The exposition is clear and well pronounced, in fact the elecution of Lars Bronworth is positively enjoyable to listen to. The supposed "end" of the Roman Empire with the coming of the Barbarians, Vandals etc. was really just a move eastwards, the Christianising of the Empire. The story of Constantine and Justinian are the highlights, especially hearing of Justinian's building of Hagia Sofia but all the stories carry their own interest. Can knowledge of Byzantine history be a bridge to understanding of Europe's eastern neighbours? It could be, I now have a greater knowledge of Byzantium/Constantinople, Istanbul..... it's a start, history can enrich the present. I recommend this podcast and thank the authors of it.Read full review »

More reviews of 12 Byzantine Rulers
I am really enjoying listening while at work. It is easy enough to listen to while doing something else but still retain some of the knowledge.

Very well presented history of Byzantine history through the emperors that ruled it. Short and concise and very interesting to follow. I dont miss an episode, and as an interested amateur historian I listen to each episode a few times. Good work! Thanks.Read full review »
