Thank you Tim. It’s such an informative podcast. I’ve been listening without feeling bored and understand most of the things easily. Looking forward to seeing your other works. Cheers.

The host does an excellent job of telling the story behind things both big and small — some super obvious, and some you would never have thought of. Each episode is a great little nugget of information.

Very interesting info and with good examples for easy catching.

The combination of insight, intellgence, humour and humanity means I would listen to Tim Harford discussing, well, anything. Excellent programme.

I love this. Only one complaint there are only 50 episodes!

Highly recommended series, which never disappoints. Each episode delivers fascinating facts to amaze and increase your trivia knowledge. Brilliant!

Great for understanding all faucets of the business, commercial and financial world. Make sure to listen to all the episodes with mundane titles, as sometimes they take the most interesting twists.

Covers so much in each short episode - understandable without talking down to the audience

Super fun and engaging. A side door into looking at the world through an economic lens for those of us who got hives whenever business majors walked into the room.

Marvellous series for anyone who likes to know how the world around us works. ... But isn't able to read an in-depth book on a new topic every week!Read full review »

Can we have a third series please?

I feel like I’ve barely engaged with it before it’s over, and I’m always left thinking “there’s so much more you could have said”. Interesting subjects, but in the end I had to unsubscribe because the frustration factor was too high.

Great series. Be even better if it skipped the annoying advertising jingle for BBC Sounds at the start.

This podcast is a must if you’ve ever found yourself wondering “How long has that been around?” Every episode is well built and dynamic. The length is convenient too, around 10 min each. Definitely worth a try, you’ll probably end up listening to all the episodes

Would be even better if included the “3 more things...” at the end which is on BBC sounds app

Used to enjoy this show, lately it has been nothing more than a laundry list of leftist talking points. Surprised they haven’t done an Orange Man Bad episode yet..

The renaissance man and of BBC podcasts. Spectacular show.
avm1406 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/19/19
They are just 10 minutes long and one a minute of filler. Some are obscure and some obvious. I liked the one on cement / concrete and didn’t realize how important sand was to the world.

A superbly researched and well chosen series of subjects. My only frustration is that each episode is not longer; thoroughly enjoyable.

Fantastic series. My favorite. I would love it if the BBC would turn these podcasts into TV documentaries.

Long podcasts that dive deeply into a topic can be great but what if you just want to learn a little bit about interesting topics that affect our everyday lives and economy? This podcast does just that, piquing interest with short m, fascinating episodes. Very interesting!

Just like their prior podcasts using a similar format..."x things that made the world", etc, BBC has nailed this. Almost every one of these has information that I found fascinating and useful. The episode on tinned food for some reason does not play on my phone..Thanks BBC.Read full review »

Good podcast but why does it have to have 90 secs of advertising at the end when the pod is only 10 mins long. Other pods don’t go to this extreme. It is getting to the point where I may stop subscribing

Pretty much brilliant all round

Must thank the producers for swapping in a new presenter to list the sources in the outro this season. Her vocal fry was in my opinion the only flaw of the show. Such a pleasant listen all the way through now!
Agvo2 via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 09/10/19
I stumbled upon this podcast in 2018 and it captured my mind very quickly. Tim Harford has a soothing voice and is able to condense the topics into fascinating, easily digestible and poignant podcasts that never really seem to get old.

Even given the very professional level of most BBC podcast series, this is outstanding. Great research into apparently humble products of everyday life makes each 9 minute segment very addictive. True to the style of an economist, the counterintuitive consequences - negative and positive - of...Read full review »
