“99% of what Lily has to say is great advice and I honestly love most of her content. I do, however, worry about her listeners developing a harmful relationship with food because of how Lily frames food as bad and good. So-called “clean” eating is very harmful and nutritionists and dietitians have called it out as diet culture language. Yes, it is important to eat healthily but Lily should bring a certified nutritionist or dietitian onto the show to discuss food. Because Lily is not a certified nutritionist or dietitian, she is a holistic health coach. I’m not sure how much of her education at IIN was focused on nutrition through a diet culture lens and how much of it was through a lens of intuitive eating and anti-diet culture.
So just take her podcast with a grain of salt and be sure to consult a professional before you hire a holistic health coach. Don’t buy into pseudoscience and certainly don’t view food through a moral lens. Food has no moral value and eating intuitively is much healthier in the long run. I follow @andydoeshealthy on TikTok, a dietician, and she shares wonderful + healthy attitudes towards food.”
