“This (the sole episode of this show (which is called "88% Parentheticals" (in case you didn’t know already))) is some of the best work Sarah Koenig has done (and while I can call myself a fan (I have listened to This American Life (which was incidentally the first podcast I listened to (on the advice of my brother (who also tried to get me to watch the show (which I never did)) because he had Showtime (I think (You know, it's wild to think that it's been over a decade since that series was on . . . . on TV)))) and the first season of Serial (which lead me down a completely different rabbit hole and single-handedly kicked off our current true crime renaissance)) I would definitely not consider myself a super fan (a term I never hear being used for podcast presenters (which is a shame because there are some great podcast presenters out there (two of my favorites being Dan Carlin (he was literally my favorite part of the revived "Twilight Zone" (once I realized it was him, anyway)) and John McWhorter (who took over the amazing "Lexicon Valley" podcast after Bob Garfield left for WNYC's "On the Media" (and looking back I often wonder, was "Lexicon Valley" just a side gig for him in the meantime? Or did he ditch the show about language to do something that has a far greater reach (in terms of listenership, anyway (as I content that (geographically speaking) no digital media has any larger reach than global)))))))) and I look forward to the next episode in this (hopefully unlimited) series.”Read full review »
