Shout out to Dan Soder & Lazlo

This show either tried too hard or not enough. That’s a line you might as well throw in to one of the million contrary statements in the never ending monologues. This show feels like it was written by high schoolers for a play. The monologues are very average when compared to dinner theatre...Read full review »

I wanted to like this more, but Daisy talks like Nigel talks like …the other guy. Nick? How do they talk? Very rapid fire, flow-of-conscience, but also slightly stilted monologue. I kept wishing they each had their own style and voice like you would expect in the real world, but sadly they kept...Read full review »

If you are a fan of The Program Audio Series, listen up! This series proves as an excellent companion and stands strongly on its own. 10/10

I understand what the author was trying to do in this futuristic, dystopian story; however, a little more work was needed to portray that through the podcast, in my opinion. Interesting idea.

Started out with an interesting if not very cliché idea, but it devolves rapidly into the entitled people who ruined the world complaining endlessly about how much life sucks now that the world is ruined. Even the evil AI is an annoying, whiney b— I finally gave up halfway through episode seven,...Read full review »

Voice actors with grating voices endlessly drone on about how miserable they are, their jobs are, their bosses are, and on and on. The story is just a bunch of tired tropes, boring dystopian dribble, and is ridiculously repetitive. Sound design is ok, but a bit overdone. I barely made it thru 2...Read full review »

Pilots are almost always rough so I wanted to give it a shot. Episode one is dumb. Episode two repeatedly denigrates sex workers. I didn’t care to listen to episode three.

Oh my god. He's still talking 17 minutes in! I'm gonna try to listen more but this is just HORRIBLE!!! Nope. I'm done. Can't handle the ads. They completely ruin this for me. Why isn't there a subscriber edition?Read full review »

I was skeptical. I even stopped listening a few times, but came back around. The story grows on you, it does get a bit long winded, but the story deepens as you go with the waves.

The depth of narrative is really compelling - interesting progression on the form. I love experimental storytelling that keeps me guessing and this delivers. It’s easy to imagine these characters in the immersive settings going through all the emotions. The writing is super clever. The last...Read full review »

I've listened to 11 episodes and what I've heard should have been edited into three of the repetition was removed. Note: If you want me to FF through commercials have Lazlo read them. I don't know how someone can be both shrill and nasal but he nails it.Read full review »

I absolutely loved this. Top-notch acting (esp. NigelDave — Paterson Joseph is immensely talented and the sound effects they applied gave me chills), gorgeous dialogue, amazing music, totally immersive soundscape, the plot had me on the edge of my seat…praying there's a season 2. Bravo!Read full review »

Loving this show! I love the concept, the actors, everything! This is a must listen if you love Audio Drama/Fiction I’m seeing a lot of people who obviously have not listened rating this show poorly…they are not the target demographic! Listen listen listen!

I’m at Episode 12 so far, and while I do like this podcast series, I REALLY want to love it. The voice actors, characters, sound design, themes, ideas, and even humor is all great…but I feel like Lazlow picked the wrong storytelling format. At first, I really didn’t mind the Hamlet-like...Read full review »

The anxiety and paranoid filled monologues of “is it watching?” “is someone watching” but never quite getting to “it” is repetitive, annoying and boring. Signed off after the 6th episode. Really wanted to leave after the 3rd, because they’re just going around in circles, but gave it a fair chance.
LorraineEC via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/19/24
The monologuing style is particularly disadvantaged because the plot does not advance. You continually hear about the characters paranoia and they describe the past in vague terms, but it is barely shown. The narrators just pound you over the head with the desired takeaway, rather than leading...Read full review »

I finished the 11th episode, I truly gave it a shot but it just didn’t interest me if only we had a visual presentation from absurd ventures
Tacitus Kilgore9 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/13/24
The story seems quite interesting but the style that has been chosen makes it so hard to listen to or follow what’s happening. Just a series of monologues, from varying levels of voice actors. Not a coherent story in any way.
UnlikelyPython via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/12/24
Pros: - Paterson Joseph’s performance as Nigeldave is incredible. So well done. So much FUN to listen to. - Interesting premise - Great sound design Cons: - The writing needs work - it doesn’t sound like people actually speak - The story progresses really slowly. Really. Slowly.
SarahThere via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/05/24
Constantly saying something is great but awful and beautiful but ugly and A but Z over and over again in a monologue format is not engaging. Couldn’t finish it despite the interesting premise.

It rambles, it sprawls, spirals and evolves. I like the urgency and passion of the voices. I like its growing insanity. It’s like journaling. The depths open, the waters rise.
blusterbrain via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/31/24
It doesn’t hang together for me. I don’t see any narrative thread amongst the vignettes, soundscapes and monologues.
HappyGenny via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 07/31/24
I can’t tell the episodes apart because the plot doesn’t advance and they just say the same things over and over. But what made me stop listening is that none of the characters use contractions and I couldn’t handle the constant use of “did not” and “could not”.
Joe banana 2 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/30/24
I’m still vaguely curious about the overall plot, but 2 episodes in, this is just unlistenable. The long monologues that dominate the episodes are toe-curlingly cringe. The language is stilted and hits every cliche, and the content is trying so, so hard to be profound, it gets in the way of the...Read full review »

I singed off after the 3rd episode. The monologue format may be interesting for one episode or two at most, but just couldn’t hold my attention. I’m sure it’s an interesting story. However, presented in this format, it is just not for me.
Laniereads via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/27/24
Sinister, twisted ideas, but I still don’t understand what’s going on. Difficult to follow the plot.

I heard the creator promoting this show on another podcast and his description made it sound brilliant. In theory, it should be thrilling. There’s no real action. The episodes don’t really advance a plot. Frankly much of the script seems like whining . Really wanted to like it, but I can’t recommend this show.

Rambling proselytizing. Some refer to science fiction as a sub-genre of speculative fiction. This fails to speculate anything we don’t already know and have had hammered into us over the last few years. I apologize on behalf of the authors and production crew ( that voice! ) to the actors.

It is indeed an absurd story. I love the universe they’ve created here. I personally like the slow pace, it helps me to understand each character better and it also helps me to immerse my self more easily. I’m giving 4 because of the originality and the universe. This is a fictional story, in a Podcast form. For any of you who don’t like the “Ramblings” of exposition and monologue from characters, thats fair for you to give it 3 stars. it is VERY heavy exposition and depressingly toned, but you can’t undermine the quality of the writing just because of...Read full review »

I get what they’re trying to go for but it could’ve been done a lot better. Every episode has just too much rambling and it all just starts to sound the same. Even with different characters it all just sounds the same.
BossFujin via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/09/24
Honestly- I love the monologues, read other reviews about how whiny or whatever they are but it gives all the background and really sets the scene. I’ve listened to this while working, so I have to pause it and get back to it- but I’m fully immersed, I don’t have to rewind to get back in like...Read full review »

Just like everybody else said, the rambling is a bit too much and kinda hard to keep up with, I love the idea and don’t want to bash the idea bc somebody obviously put a lot of work into this, but it could’ve been done in a better dialogical way.

Couldn’t get past 3rd episode. The narrator is so angry and upset ALL the time that it was giving me second hand anxiety. The over the top ranting of the main narrator becomes so tiresome and whiny that it detracts from what otherwise seems like an interesting storyline. But I just can’t listen anymore to this.

People are usually working and doing busywork when they’re listening to a podcast, you need to slow down the talking ease into the plot. This feels like I’m listening to breakcore music

Unbearably pompous monologues that say nothing at all. Dipped out half way through episode 4

Omg this is painful to listen to. It’s just the narrator rambling on for 90% of the episodes. Nothing happens.

I really only tuned in for Andrew Lincoln but he is rarely featured in the episodes...at least thus far. I don’t necessarily mind the story but I’m very disappointed that we were told he would be the star. He is actually just a minor character at best. There is also a lot of complaining. The main character/narrator drones on and on - meandering among multiple topics of triviality and whining about his place within the meaningless topics.

All it is is the narrator complaining about something and then maybe 5 minutes of something else. I wasted time giving it a chance with the first two episodes but had to stop it. It’s bad. I’ll give it an extra star for the idea.
