“This podcast and many I have listened to are dead on in accuracy. Hearing what Michele went through reminded me of my significantly traumatic trip to the E.R., the physical pain which remained with me for a years and the mental pain (I now have PTSD) which I have suffered at the hands of an overzealous orderly (who probably failed out of the police academy and wants to prove his manhood through roughing up a 5’5” 120 lb. 50 year old women).
Though the Psych Nurse who walked in to see this occurring and apologized profusely to my husband for this man’s behavior (I had already been “put down” by chemical sedation), this in no way makes up for the damage done. Then after one call to my psychiatrist, I was released to go home (the paperwork states I was released 4 minutes after the medication was administered).
So this orderly thought I was so dangerous he had to brutalize me, all because I was tired of waiting for service (I had been up front about the amount of time I was willing to wait to see a doctor/nurse and that time had long past) and decided I wanted to go home.
I was then promptly discharged, after experiencing abuse and unwanted sedation.
So which was it. Was I a danger to myself or others or was I safe to be set free in public or left alone in my own home?
When I reported the incident to administration, a representative suggested that I come in and meet with her and the orderly to talk things over. Of course that wasn’t happening in this lifetime.
So what do you think Michele, sound familiar.”
