Caution and Concerns
I have now listened to multiple episodes of this podcast with my wife. I think the overall tenor of the podcast is uplifting, but I have begun to develop serious concerns about the theology espoused. After most recently listnening to the "God is Good" episode, I find the use of Scripture to, at times, lack context and the overall message to give preference to man's view of God rather than pursuing a well-rounded Biblical understanding. When it comes to a Christian approach to suffering, there are many questions introduced by their arguments that go unanswered. What do you do with the book of Job with such a theology that rejects that God could inflict suffering or judgment? What do you do with the blind man whom Jesus described as being stricken that He might be glorified (John 9:1-12)? Does not the theology espoused by this podcast ascribe to Satan more power and dominion in this world than he truly has? How do you assess God leading his chosen people into the suffering and challenges of the wilderness? Where in Scripture are we told that God lacks in power in any way (even illness, trial, and death)? What is taught in this podcast may feel good temporarily and may provide momentary hope for a desired outcome, but will not ultimately hold up under the hardest questions that life may bring. It does not provide ideas that align with a holy God beyond our understanding. Instead, the ideas put forth make God in our image. This is prosperity teaching dressed up in many more classic theological words.Read full review »
