A video game show for NPR
I know the comparison has been thrown around a lot over the past two days, but Robert Ashley's new podcast has more in common with "This American Life" than any of his past podcast work. I have a feeling this was intentional, since the show is edited almost exactly like TAL. Seriously, if I wasn't familiar with this guy's work at 1up I might think this was just a video game themed episode of TAL. The first episode covers the closing of EGM, a topic that has been discussed quit often over the past few weeks. I did not think it was possible, but Ashley's show manages to bring a tremendous amounts of insight and closure to the closing of what was, for all intents and purposes, and institution to people who grew up playing video games. This is definitely worth a subscription. Hope you guys like it as much as I do.Read full review »

Robert Ashley was always my favorite contributor to the 1-UP podcasts and now he's back with his own show! Robert is very funny and has a perfect radio-voice. Can't wait for more episodes.Read full review »

Jeff Green got it right in this blog post about this very podcast; Robert Ashley has taken gaming podcasts to the next level with this one. Other podcasts, gaming or otherwise, listen and learn. Excellent.
