Reasonably well told but a little dull
This cult leader just seems a bit pathetic. He claims to have made his first million by 24, first hundred million by early thirties, and would’ve been worth 10-20 billion today, if he hadn’t dropped it all to generously coach average people. Except of course it just wouldn’t be reasonable for him to work for less than all of your life savings, so better morgage the house asap. And in exchange for everything you’ve saved over the course of your entire life, what do you get? mandatory 12 hour daily phone calls where he rants maniacally about random topics. The journalists act like we’re buying this whole thing: when they check out his background they’re “stunned to find no evidence of his business empire - despite his obvious enormous success, almost nobody has heard of him.” What!? He’s not really an unstable billionaire who left it all behind to become a cult leader? It’s just a random narcissist with a pretty dumb story who happened to meet a bunch of people at a vulnerable moment in their lives. if you want to listen to a cult story, maybe try the Manson family or something, this guy just really isn’tworth your attention.

More reviews of A Very British Cult
Very well put together pod cast and well researched. It’s incredible that this goes on. Just incredible and deeply shocking.

Absolutely riveting with amazing storytelling and journalism skills. As a South African, I can attest that this whole story is wild but you lot did an amazing job researching, investigating and sharing it!
