Murder! Ghosts! Myths! History! What’s not to love??
Podcast perfection for the lover of the darker side of life, especially at this time of year, coming up to Christmas (nice scheduling, folks). Maddy and Anthony are fantastically engaging hosts, and the combination of macabre subject matter, historical research, general chat and slightly hammy retellings makes for a really fascinating and entertaining history podcast. Anthony particular is gloriously sceptical and the discussions (often with top notch guests) really invite us to think about the wider cultural / societal implications of the stories and themes, without excessively clobbering us over the head with the dry stick of academia. Or something. Highly recommended.

Not quite sure how the episode on Pierrepoint manage to slip into a little wokery around half way through - a gendered reading of the Belsen executions? Was Pierrepoint’s delicatesse vis-a- vis the female subjects really “Abhorrent”?
