Slightly anachronistic
Maddy and Anthony are lovely, smart amusing historians. However I can’t help but feel some confirmation bias and anachronistic application of modern social justice ruins the analysis, which often seems like ahistorical guess work. The presenters often hypothesising a characters true intent, emotion or virtue based on a photo or a quote. Often actions are “heavily gendered” or “speaks to a sign of the patriarchy” forcing me to think that Anthony’s historic area of expertise is being leant on too much and sometimes being baked into his narrative style (which I love) to provide some false context or justification, where it isn’t necessary or even likely correct

One of my favourite podcasts…especially the episode with Irving Finkle…what a fascinating man! Will definitely be getting hold of his book on ghosts. Keep up the good work guys!
