“The tales themselves are an evocative blend of traditional and modern, drawing on iconic southern folk motifs but with a decidedly modern (and sometimes postmodern) twist that is sometimes VERY twisted, but what really puts them across is Amanda Rachels’ delightful speaking voice. I’d say it’s perfect for the material, but I could listen to that fresh-baked from-scratch honey-biscuit voice talking about anything. She could be reading 1970s Jack Kirby dialogue or reciting the poetry of Leonard Nimoy and Id still be hooked, but that voice goes with these stories as perfectly as white gravy on fried catfish.”
