Great try but misses the mark
Jonathan Winters, one of the greatest improvisationalists of all time, attempted to do an audience-less improv show on Showtime. The Shakespeare vignette with Robin Williams was the only one that worked. Why? Because improv without an audience is HARD. These people try but they need feedback to keep them on track. They are obliviously talented but they stop the flow by denying, asking questions, and jumping in when it isn't necessary. I would like them to be more active and positive as Elaine May taught. They also do a lot of pimping which I find doesn't progress the established narrative. I will keep listening to see if they find their stride in future episodes.Read full review »
