“The premise of this really interesting. Two mega fans (who were actually there during her heyday) working their way through Madonna’s discography. Fool-proof right? Not so much. I’m aware that during the earlier seasons the hosts were finding their footing with the show but I think her earlier albums really needed some extra love. There was an opportunity to really bring the listener in with the music, painting a picture of the atmosphere back then but a lot of the early episodes are the two hosts riffing about personal stories and not really much about the music. This wouldn’t be a problem if it felt like they were on the same wavelength but it seems at times that Kenny is restraint, reserved and not really excited or as excited as Mark is, which in turn can make Mark seem extra, and overly-excited. I’m sure their respective personalities IRL are pleasant but my experience with podcasts is that it should feel like you’re eavesdropping on two friends two martinis in. I will continue listening because the show is highly bingeable and as I’m only at “Erotica”, I’m sure the format will get better somewhat. Thanks guys”
