“We set out for this show and got within about 2 miles and could see it was gonna be a tough slodge forward. I was against the decision to turn back but in hindsight it was a good call. I’d already been to several free Dead shows in Golden Gate Park plus numerous memorable times at the old Fillmore, the Avalon and Winterland. Somehow the vibe out here seemed weird.
Man...after seeing Gimme Shelter I could see the whole vibe of Bay Atea 60’s was slipping away. Sad.”
