Thoughtful and adds diversity to my study
It adds diversity to my study because I have been getting the more conservative evangelical view for many years already. I like to listen to many other points of view to expand my own study of the Bible and world view, and while I still have a long way to go, this podcast has been an important piece of that puzzle. I also think it’s very important in the US, where many people from the news (or maybe spiritual malpractice from their own childhood) have come to think that Christian means only holding certain political views or certain views of the Bible. Between this podcast and The Bible Project, I am starting to see the Bible as a much more beautiful and sacred literary work and have stopped trying to make it be scientific or historic in ways it isn’t meant to be. I do still believe the Word is alive and inspired by the Spirit, but I am actually MORE able to believe that now. The gender series unlocked a new level for me, and I bought Dr Westfall’s book and have shared it with many others. Sometimes I am not quite there with them on some issues. I will either look into my study Bible notes and read the cross references and verify that their point of view is a valid one, even if I don’t go all the way with them on that point, OR I will simply hold it with open hands, happy to know something new about how other people see things. Please keep it up.

The hosts talk about their views in a clear way and provide material to read and learn. It is a new set of thoughts...Read full review »

Tim and Nate explore topics that most mainstream Western evangelical churches either avoid or haven't considered. Digging up questions and offering intersting potential solutions. The ideas they propose are at times uncomfortable, but always fascinating.

Solid information and fascinating. Makes you think about some of the possible assumptions about the Bible we may readily accept and take for granted. Assumptions that can actually cause harm though there’s reason to think these ideas may not have been the biblical writers’ original intent. If...Read full review »
