Shallow dive
SOOOO disappointed in Crooked Media. This is a simple-minded and paternalistic podcast. The viewpoint is the opposite of liberal and democratic—it’s pro-establishment propaganda, with disdain and bullying particularly aimed at women. There’s no “dissection”, or barely even surface-level examination, here. The host urges us to be “skeptical” of “wellness”, but no mention that we might need to be skeptical of the medical establishment and pharmaceutical industry. THAT is where the real stink is. Let’s see...cholesterol lies, mercury in dentistry and vaccines, antibiotic overuse/resistance, the opioid crisis, maternal morbidity and mortality, cesarean rates, PTSD following hospital birth, circumcision for no medical reason and “gender normalizing surgeries” on infants, the rarity of actual “informed consent”, insomnia meds that are dangerously addictive and also associated with dementia, rampant abuse and neglect in long term care facilities—and I could go on and on and on. The folks who promote natural health strategies are problematic? Problematic for doctors’ wallets and inflated egos, perhaps. And on an aesthetic note, all the music in the episodes is crazy dorky—it’s what a person would listen to while flexing in the mirror or imagining themselves jumping from an exploding helicopter.

No examination of any specific concerns with vaccines. Just a general demonstration of, “vaccines are good, anti-vaxx is bad, is...Read full review »

Engaging and substantive! He’s a good interviewer and pretty charismatic guy. On recommendation is to cut back on the punchy music a tad?

This podcast is excellent. As a passionate public health professional (nerd), I found myself enthusiastically agreeing out loud at multiple points throughout — which likely frightened the other people at the park where I was running in the early morning dark. Looking forward to the next...Read full review »
