“I grew up in Ballard and Everett which at the time were deeply working class parts of Seattle. My dad and I had a huge love ove both Griffey and Kid Sensation. At the time I was in in Ballard. One of the earliest songs I memorized at the age of 6 was “listen to the way I swing” and my dad and I would trade verses.
It’s bigger than baseball, but that was the bond that made it happen.
My dad would always call me “GRIFFEY BOOTY!” when I was swinging my bat at the plate and we’d rap “Seatown Funk” together after.”
