I found this series as I have often felt Gabby Douglas was waaayyyy underrated as a gymnast, and I wanted to listen to some old podcasts back from when she was competing. I found this instead, and I’m so glad I did. In recent years there has been much more exposure around the toxic culture of the...Read full review »

Overall, the intention of this podcast was fantastic. But, there were too many easily fixed errors to ignore. It came across sloppy.

This podcast was great!!! The episodes were informative and insightful. This shined a spotlight on many pioneers and trailblazers that people need to know about. I need this to become a full fledge documentary. As you said to Amanda Seales, I’m speaking it into existence for you.

Good first episode of American Prodigies! I know I’m going to feel a range of emotions this season, feeling joy for these women’s accomplishments and anger for the things they had to go through for being black and women. This is a story that needs to be told. I appreciate the host and athletes...Read full review »

This is an amazing story. It’s so well written, so well told and perfectly executed! I just loved it!

Season 1 Jr and Season 2 Adu were great. The Rumor is garbage.

I don’t agree with the argument taken in the fourth episode. The main reason why Ken Griffey isn’t remembered because he played in the era that baseball wants to forget. Griffey was clearly the best non pitcher from that era who didn’t take steroids. Baseball wants to sweep the individual...Read full review »

Absolutely mind blowing! I can taste the Pizza Hut I ate when I got the Ken Griffey Jr. home run cracking foam bat. What memories! I have set up my N64 and play regularly again after listening.

The podcast was great but honestly, the first two episodes felt just thrown together without an end-goal in mind. I would say the real content picks up in episode three. Though KGJr never joins the podcast, it just seems to be quintessential Griffey that he didn’t. When compared to most podcasts,...Read full review »

Love the pod. I’m an ‘84 kid and grew up idolizing Junior. Family trips were centred around catching a Mariners or Reds game in Seattle, Minneapolis or Cincinnati. My first Junior game was in August of ‘97 against the White Sox. He was out in the field during BP chatting with a teammate. Jay...Read full review »

The actual Ken Griffey Jr content probably could have been covered in one hour long pod. If there is a season 3 pick one topic and stick to it

This was great. As a fan of baseball I truly appreciate the work they did with Jr’s story. It took me back and gave a lot of context that I did not know at the time. A must listen for every baseball fan.

Really have enjoyed these 5 episodes of American Prodigy: The Kid. This podcast has taken me back to my childhood and revisiting the pure admiration I had for The Kid. I tried to emulate his swing, wore my hat backwards in the cages and I always wanted his jersey (which I never got). This podcast...Read full review »

What an amazing podcast! I grew up in the PNW and Junior still remains my favorite athlete of all time. The 90s was Griffey mania for me. Thank you! Thank you guys for making this podcast. It gave me chills multiple times, and even made me ready-eyed a time or two. KG jr. is the man and this provides a fascinating look at not just his career, but his life off of the field and the scaffolding that made (read: makes) him so iconic. The story of Jr. hitting a playback monitor with a bat was the best Ken Griffey Jr. story I’ve ever heard. He was and still is the COOLEST athlete I’ve ever seen. I have really enjoyed both seasons of the show. This one is hitting hard, though, bc I’m missing my BFF who was the hugest Griffey fan and Reds fan. As a Yankee fan, refuse to lose still hunts me. Griffey was an amazing athlete, I still see him running up the wall making that catch and that swing is so sweet to watch. Keep it up Grant, good stuff. @psolly0108

The Griffey stuff is alright, if not insufficient. They jam journalists in who remember Griffey as a cultural icon more than people who ever interacted with him.
