Always enjoy British view of America and Freddy Grey is clearly a fan but one with a critical eye. He’s an excellent interviewer. Having an American host, especially one who’s long, leading questions constrain discussion, is less interesting.

Easily the best bite-sized commentary on the US presidential election year. It was very good on America before 2024, but has leaped to a higher level commensurate with the exciting melodramatics of the Trump-Biden struggle. Targets well informed guests unfailingly, & the host gets the best...Read full review »

Freddy is a thoughtful interviewer—Kate Andrews brings very little to the table

I would fire him and Katy should have challenged him on his outrageous comment that Gaza is being flattened and there’s a massacre. What was he addressing? It didn’t sound like a comment on the massacre of Israelis by Hams on 7 October 2023.

Never trumper Kate Andrews presents for a magazine whose editor endorsed Kamala Harris. ‘Conservative’

Live show and audio to match…didn’t bother listening
JDwoodstock via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/25/24
The audio levels in the podcast are quite low and uneven, which makes it hard to follow. It would be great if you could consider working with a professional audio producer to enhance the overall listening experience..

I enjoy this podcast more than I used to, partly because the competing News Agents and Americast are so one-sidedly left-wing. Freddy brings a welcome objectivity to American politics. But indeed, as another reviewer has said, it’s “noo-klier” NOT “NU-kyu-ler”. Kinda shocking that.

Always fascinating, insightful and balanced, with very interesting guests and an excellent presenter. A listener from Bangkok. Today a guy called Cenk Uygur; a Democrat. How Freddie handled this was a master class in Interviewing. Very much enjoy the Podcast from my retirement down here in...Read full review »

I have been a long-time listener to the podcast. Always has great insight into the topics of the moment, and Freddy is an excellent host. This rate and review is long overdue and I'm excited to provide it now. However, my writing at this time was prompted by Cenk Uygur's recent...Read full review »

Despite being the most right-leaning of the Spectator’s (brilliant) podcast presenters, Freddie will often invite along brilliant, compelling guests who have opposing points of view whom he interviews intelligently and respectfully. The resulting conversations are fascinating. Today, however, he...Read full review »

Hopefully this will become less sycophantic when you have weird right ideas presented on the Amerixano.

Lots of analysis of Harris & Walz, little of Trump & Vance in comparison. The recent Harris interview dissected, as it should be. Did Walz lie about his military service? A valid question. We don’t seem have any discussion of Trump interviews, policy gaps & potential lies. Seems...Read full review »

August 30 interview with Todd Bensman was so informative and insightful. Never miss an episode.

Sure, *The Spectator* leans right, but this is too MAGA-friendly to be considered even vaguely objective. It's a shame.Read full review »

Brilliant episode. Should be required listening for all UK and US politicians.

Just listened to this recent episode. A shame Freddy Gray had not read Anya Parampil’s book Corporate Coup. Questioning then might have been more journalistic.

Good pod, the host has a honey smooth voice. If I were gay would be in love. But I am not gay.

I have been listening to Young Freddie for a while and, regrettably, I am still unclear on his qualifications or credentials for presenting this podcast. His superficial understanding of US politics and history is disappointingly evident every week (now twice a week — yippee!), undermining the...Read full review »

Incisive. Seasoned participants. Freddy as panelist (vs presenter) however uses too many “Errs” in his sentences to point of being annoying to listen to.
Duetto67 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/26/24
Freddy never quite seems to address the question of the moment. When something comes up, there is either silence or “look at this less than shiny thing over here”. Freddy has, apparently, spent a long time cultivating connections on the right of American politics and he clearly cannot countenance...Read full review »

Great show, wife range of guests and hosted by Freddy Gray who seems an unlikely host of the show but who is brilliant and knowledgable and gets the best out of his guests!

Freddy Gray is excellent as usual but unfortunately he decided to bring on Kate Andrews to discuss The assassination attempt of Donald Trump. As a dual UK/US citizen, I appreciate Freddy Gray’s deep knowledge of US politics (both historical and current day) as well as his very measured and slightly sardonic British tone. Love hearing a non-hysterical political analysis in calm, dulcet tones.

Unchallenged “people supporting Palestine are shallow ”. Have a balance, challenge insane guests. Happy to hear a rational opposition argument but killing >10k kids is a bad thing. I listen for the rational guests whichever side they are on but the crazies are becoming too frequent.

Freddy Gray runs an eclectic eye over contemporary ideas bubbling up from the American cauldron. Freddy teases out the thoughts of intellectual Americans to provide non-Americans some sense of what is going on in America. Thank you Freddy, two times a week is not enough

Americano is one of my favourite podcasts. Freddy Gray has a wonderful interview style. He gives his guests the room to speak while asking intelligent, gently probing questions. I wholeheartedly recommend listening

Just listened to an episode which was totally rubbish, one sided, inaccurate, selective and biased in every way. Saying that the whole American Judicial system is out to get Trump? in general, a fair and balanced stable of interviewees to provide insights on U.S. politics and society. that said, a few more voices from mid-america would be useful.

Always entertaining and illuminating, and a highlight of my pod listening. I do wish however Mr. Gray would tackle the Trump supporters in the same fashion that he challenged Mr. Ornstein on May 5th (who I thought was marvellous). Always interesting and thought provoking. A welcome alternative to the narrow worldview you tend to get in mainstream media. Like the BBC used to be before it became politicised.
