Great episode. Thank you!

Thank you Freddy and Angus Hanton and William Clouston. That was the most marvellous masterclass on the trials and tribulations of British business and the failure of successive governments to invest in their growth and welfare or protect them from American predators. If you haven’t covered it...Read full review »

Just love this podcast. Freddie is the best. He is as obsessed with America as I am.

The best of the Spectator podcasts, Americano is a tour de force. Freddy’s light handed and intelligent touch works beautifully in getting the most out of his guests. Having read Alan Dershowitz’s “Get Trump” it was a pleasure to hear him on the podcast, especially given his prowess in US legal...Read full review »

I’ve heard Alan Dershowitz before and love that he points out Republican hypocrisy as well as Democrats . It’s a sad state of affairs when unbiased commentators are a difficult find in America .

Virtually all Spectator podcasters have earned my respect and even affection. Even knowing or guessing their personal political preferences, I still find them thorough, professional and balanced. Their delivery is exemplary. Unfortunately I can’t say the same of Freddy Gray. With the exception...Read full review »

Excellent and nicely delivered content by Freddie Gray. No ego, no showboating. Bright, articulate, engaging, has been my preferred source of US political commentary for many years.

Giving airtime to such an awful point of view is boring. Interviewer and interviewee both shockingly Putin apologists. Spectators base readers insulted again!

Freddy grey has the miot erudite, interesting and thought-provoking guests anywhere in the podcast universe. Often learned, their research and input to the debate should be heard so much more widely and in fact shows up mainstream current affaires coverage to be so poor it is desperately depressing.

Just listened to an episode which was totally rubbish, one sided, inaccurate, selective and biased in every way. Saying that the whole American Judicial system is out to get Trump? Of course it’s nothing to do with Trump breaking the law??? He has been found GUILTY in 2 cases already. To say one...Read full review »

I always feel generous, kind, and warmhearted after listening to the Spectator´s Americano podcast. Oh, and better informed as well.

The following suggestions are from my echo chamber. David Sacks (All In podcast), Niall Ferguson (Goodfellows podcast), Megyn Kelly, Victor Davis Hanson, any of the guys from the Ruthless podcast. Love Freddy’s approach to interviews, balanced and insightful.

A very interesting podcast covering American politics. I find it fascinating and informative. I lived there for 3 years as a boy and worked closely with American clients for 30 years. There are a wide variety of guests and all sorts of interesting things crop up.

With a revolving cast of interesting guests, Freddy Gray does not take centre stage but instead lets his guests do the talking. You are unlikely to agree with everything you hear, but that is the point. Right?

The tech polling episode was clearly presented & highly informative. I’d like to thank Americano and its host, Freddy Gray, for a warm, generous & kindhearted effort on behalf of the listeners.

I’ve had the pleasure of listening to these podcasts for the last three years and yet to review! The show combines great wit with wisdom and good manners , a rare thing in media these days. I found the debate between the Fox contributor and Ms Andrews to be the most anger inducing podcast I had heard in years. This is probably why I stopped watching Spectator TV or listening to the daily podcasts on coffee house shots. Mr Nelson’s recent diatribe on Lee Anderson was a great example...Read full review »

Freddie is a very enjoyable host to listen to. Well-informed, engaging and even-handed. This is my go-to podcast to understand more about the strange country that is the USA.

I like Freddy Gray, but much less Jacob Heilbrunn please. His takes are tediously mainstream and uninformed.

If you are interested in American politics, the right-now politics, this is the one podcast you need to listen. Some of the guests are really insightful, and some are a bit nutty, but still quite eye-opening.

Plenty of good material here, with Freddy’s ever present views creeping in.

Twice a week just feels like too much, even in the run-up to an election. Their also competing now with FT who now have a Saturday round-up which is much more succinct. As much as I love listening to Freddie, I’m finding that the content is getting repetitive with the same themes covered and the...Read full review »

Freddy and his guests do the intellectual leg-work to get underneath the dynamics of the 2024 presidential elections resulting in uniquely insightful analysis as the primaries unfold

Having done a digital divorce from all my news apps and YouTube the Speccy is now my only online source of news & commentary. And that is because it’s the sanest & most literate of all the offerings. So rare with political interview podcasts that every guest is more than worth listening to. Freddie does a superb job in hosting and asks pertinent questions that always elicit intriguing responses.

The ‘Americano’ Podcast (from the always well-informed and well-guested Spectator team) is Generous, Kind, and Warm-Hearted. Thankfully - for this Grumpy, Critical, invariably Cold-Hearted Brit - it is also Insightful, Incisive, Interesting, and Informative. An unequivocal 5-Star recommendation...Read full review »

Freddy Gray brings in some of the smartest individuals to interview. While right leaning, this podcast is never shrill nor pedantic. If you want clear cut thinking that cuts through the pervasive woke ideology crippling the US, look no further.

For British listeners, forget podcasts with similar sounding names. This has none of their silly gimmicks or irritating cross-talk. This is instead a thoughtful one-on-one discussion, with the guest allowed plenty of space to give their views. Provides insights not usually available to a UK...Read full review »

One star is mean because the podcast is actually a lot of fun, inasmuch as it gives an insight into right wing cynicism (on the part of the interviewees) and delusion (on the part of the presenter).

But man, I’d you’re talking about nuclear masters, please say it right. It’s NOOK-le-ar. When you say NOK-You-last with a British accent you should even shine than when Americans do it.
HAUSBRANDTfan via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/19/23
Very disappointing. Could have been a great opportunity for an interesting and educative podcast, but there is no attempt to really examine what is being said, why it is being said, what the actual evidence is to support the claims being made or to challenge some of the assumptions. It sounds...Read full review »

The format of this show is great and by far my favourite podcast to listen to. I like how they engage and have straight forward and interesting conversations that are not hostile with different guests with completely different viewpoints. Really wish there was more shows like this to listen to.
