Brilliant
I've been working my way through these podcasts, as the son of an Irishman who moved to Scotland I have an interest in the Irish diaspora. As the weeks have passed, the interviews have gone from interesting to almost essential, not only for people interested in Irish culture, but for anyone with a grasp on modern life. The real turning poit, without insulting the earlier interviewees, is the Dara O'Briain one. I have never read, nor listened to, an interview as interesting, informative, and funny. Until the next one with Michael Smiley, who portrayed his own life with a humility it is rare to see in anyone in the public eye. And then Paul Kimmage blew the two of them out of the water. I knew nothing of Paul, and his exposé of doping in cycling, and to hear him talk about how his former friends and colleagues reacted to him was shocking, and disgusting, but alsdo gave me a great deal of respect for Paul himself. I'll be buying any of his books I can find. All the way through these interviews, Jarlath has always been a presence, asking the questions I would like to hear answered, probing the points I am interested in, but never taking over, never making it about himself.
