Jokey but serious, and always a delight to listen to. Sam Anderson is an amazing animal person. Season 2? It’s going on my wishlist. However, what about turtles? Otters? Koalas? I NEED MORE ANIMALS!

Love this series and its narrator. It’s meandering, eclectic, and beautiful. More episodes please.

Really hoping Sam will continue his journey. His calm voice, the ambient noises, the animals he encounters (including the humans along the way) were so soothing for my animal lover soul. We need more of this in our chaotic world. ✨

Really enjoyed this podcast. Was very ‘curious’ about the subject matter but it was such an enjoyable and informative listen. The presenter thoughtfully gives insights - both professional and personal and each story / animal treated with dignity. Hope there is a second season being considered 🤞🤞💜

Please make so many more seasons of this. Was drawn in by the Walnut multimedia content on NYT - one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. I listened to all episodes with my animal loving 7 year old and we’ve loved every one.

Sam’s voice is at once gentle and wry, and his celebration of animals is tonic. He puts back the nature in human nature as he explores the strange otherness of our animal relations, and our bonds. Please let there be a second season.

I can’t explain all the emotions I’ve been throught with every program. Sometimes I like to think that maybe in other life I was a biologist or veterinary, due to the passion I feel for animals; for that reason I’m into every animal podcast I find, and this is certainly the best one. I love this...Read full review »

One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to in a long time, was genuinely excited to see what they were going to explore in every episode. A thoughtful and funny exploration of animals (but really, the human condition).

Magical and precious and beautiful and cozy and endearing and just perfect. More more more animals please.

It’s Sam’s magical voice that caught me. He could talk about a nest of writhing rattlesnakes and I would be entranced. It has a rare timbre of warmth mixed with humour that makes his gentle animal tales totally addictive.

It’s like my favorite episodes of This American Life, but every single episode. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry. What a gem! I hope that a thousand more episodes are made (please @NYT!!!)

This show and this host are a precious find! I have never laughed and cried more in a shorter period of time and we are talking about a suppressed introvert here The mix of facts and vulnerable storytelling is fabulous. I am not Sam Anderson mother btw but she must be proud. I am now listening to...Read full review »

I heard it on The Daily (which i also love.) It’s heartwarming, thought provoking and exactly what I needed to remind me there is still good in the world. Let’s go season two!

I have been enjoying every episode of Animal. Sometimes chaotic, raw, funny, heartwarming, funny, heart-aching, and did I mention funny? And Sam brings it all together through some of the best storytelling I’ve ever heard. I can’t wait for the next episode.

Thank you Sam (and all the others who thought this was a good idea for a sad and confusing time in history). I listened on accident because normally these particular animals hold no interest for me and I wanted the news. That is certainly not true anymore. Sam is such a genius storyteller. Great voice, tempo, mix of narrating and sound bites. Everything you want in a podcast. PLUS it’s about animals. Stumbled on this when looking up The Daily. It’s really refreshing and not so heavy and disturbing like all the murder shows I listen to :) I hope there will be more!
Ellisbee99 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/07/24
I found this show so frustrating. It was sold as being about animals but it’s really about this guy’s pedestrian philosophies. Then we get to the wolf episode and I’m excited about learning about an apparently extinct wolf from Japan, but we spend the whole time about this driver, his pet...Read full review »

This is one of the most wholesome yet intriguing and entertaining podcast I’ve heard in a long time. The story telling is so refreshing—I couldn’t stop listening and I was so sad when the last episode was over! Please tell us there will be another season!

For animal lovers who think they will learn about animals: Zero information, so slow blabbering by the “journalist” that I had to x1.5 the speed to make it even possible to listen to. Endless internal insights that have no real meaning or knowledge. After two episodes I deleted and unfollowed.
