love the good, admire the spirit of the bad
It's really exciting that podcasting gives people the freedom to mess around with new ideas. It's obvious that Richard Herring is excited by the idea of using this as a comedy laboratory, and that he's genuinely curious to see how his experiment might evolve. While not every moment is hilarious, there's a great sense of being privy to a creative process, and in a world where comedy output has traditionally been honed within and regulated by huge media companies, it's great to listen to something that's coming from a different angle. Accept before you listen that not every line of humour will pay off, but that's the point: Herring is playing a percentage game, and we're not used to that (except at live shows), so some people might take a while to readjust their expectations.Read full review »
