Best prenatal preparation I did
THANK YOU for creating this amazing space to hear other women’s experiences with birth. I missed out on a spot in the MGP and also couldn’t get into the prenatal classes at my local hospital after having to switch from private to public at 17 weeks. I was told to just “google it” when I asked the antenatal clinic what I should do to prepare. Unfortunately the internet is a messy and dark place so for my own sanity I chose not to do that, but this left me feeling very alone and unprepared. I somehow stumbled upon your Instagram page and ended up listening to hours of your show whilst cleaning the house like a mad woman at 39+5 weeks pregnant. I never really had a fear of labour and was always excited but hearing the stories of these incredible women bringing their babes earth side just made me feel so privileged to be on the same journey. I also felt so much more prepared for the fact that I really had to surrender control (a big thing for me) and let my body and baby work together. The way you connect with these women and allow them to tell their stories in as much or as little (gory) detail as they deem necessary is amazing. I don’t feel like we’re protected from some harsh realities but also there’s no fear-mongering whatsoever. I’ve read other reviews and the words gentle, empowering, non-judgemental are all so true of Sophie and this podcast in general. I ended up going into labour the next day and my beautiful little Elsie was born on her due date on 29 January. She is now 10 weeks old and I continue to listen to the show. Although my labour wasn’t completely smooth sailing I am in awe of my body for what it achieved and so proud of my baby for getting through it - literally! I just adore hearing other mums stories and feel such a connection to them all, which is truly special and much appreciated during those 4am feeds. Thank you x

I'm now 6 months pregnant and it's helped, informed, entertained and opened my eyes to this wonderful thing called birth. I have recommended it to my pregnant friends, have...Read full review »
