Not only an informative resource to prepare for birth/postpartum
I could edit this review in all stages of my motherhood journey. I’m six months into life with two after an elective cesarean (breech) and VBAC. My journey with this space Sophie has created began with listening to ONLY the positive births. I felt so inspired and it supported the birth courses I had undertaken and my beliefs. However for my first birth things happened out of my control even though I had done all the ‘right’ things and I ended up having a cesarean. I became a shell of myself and lost because I couldn’t work out what I had done wrong. We are told to trust our intuition but what if mine was wrong? It was in my postpartum journey that the podcast saved me. I went back to episode 1 and listened to every.single.episode. I become teary writing this but I discovered that I hadn’t done anything wrong, but sometimes birth (for a variety) of reasons doesn’t always follow the physiological path we thought it should. OR it can but we need to be aware of how to navigate the hospital system. This knowledge greatly influenced my second birth. With this knowledge of all the things that can happen in pregnancy and birth I had a strong understanding of the hospital system and my own mind and body. I navigated the VBAC conversations, marginal cord insertion, advocating for mental health support then PROM that ended up going for 13 days with prodmal labour, becoming tachy in labour and feeling the urge to push but not birthing until 12 hrs later. Although there were lots of curveballs or detours I felt so empowered because I had heard other women face these challenges. Even the shoulder dystocia at the end I felt supported through because I knew what to do. Thank you for creating this space while you navigate your own motherhood journey Sophie. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you.
