Engaging, extremely informed host elicits the best stories from excellent guests
I love films, and love the stories behind them, so it was with a sense of deep dawning appreciation that I realised this was one of the most fascinating film/tv podcasts out there. I say this being moved to write a review after hearing the Michael Eisner episode - someone I really didn't know that much about (apart from my awareness of his 'big cheese' connection to Disney and Apple). But that, coupled with incredible interviews with Ian McKellen, Richard Dreyfus and Jason Segal (regarding 'End of the Tour', one of my favourite films of the last couple of years) meant I couldn't keep my praise to myself any further! I know I've just produced a list of the usual suspects, but do be assured that Awards Chatter certainly does its bit for casting light on industry people who aren't default 'white men' - and I really appreciate that, as it shows that regular mainstream media isn't covering people just as talented, with riveting stories to tell, who aren't actually minorities - women and other ethnicities are doing just as much, and the coverage is nowhere near token. The host, Scott Feinberg, is an obvious enthusiast, which makes the podcasts highly entertaining to listen to - he absolutely knows his stuff, is very passionate, and that is contagious. He asks the best questions, the guests really open up to his positive, informed attitude, and everyone wins. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and sometimes my attention drifts away from them, but this never happens with Awards Chatter. Every moment, every anecdote is compelling and entertaining and insightful. Thanks Scott! With you and Mark Kermode's podcast with Simon Mayo in the world, we film fans will never go hungry for intelligent criticism and interviews.Read full review »
