Irritating....
I don’t usually comment on podcasts, but was really irritated by Julia’s constant talking over Sofie and denigrating Sofie’s interesting comments as invalid. This attitude really undermines the camaraderie that is essential for a good podcast. That people who commit violent acts - especially sadistic acts, have often suffered in some way - abuse, neglect or have been brutalized themselves, is a completely legitimate point. I don’t think Sofie was suggesting (as Julia seemed to think) that all abused children go on to be abusers themselves. Just that people who enact violence on others have often experienced violence against themselves. There is a huge link between the two. There is usually some factor or triggering circumstance - happy people from a loving home don’t just one day stab someone over money. Two of the child murderers had been abused as children (in the Bulger case, abuse of one of the murderers was suspected). Again, a possible link? I will listen to this podcast again tentatively - the second Julia dismisses Sofie’s input and presents herself as some absolute authority/final word, I will stop.

Lovely dynamic between presenters who are both delightful to listen to. Please keep making the brilliant...Read full review »
