“When Bad People ended out of the blue it was pretty weird and now it’s back with a very similar format but without Sofie! Sofie was the main reason I listened and the dynamic and chemistry between the two hosts worked really well and I always found they had an interesting, nuanced approach to complex and often traumatic topics with clever use of humour.
I was sceptical but gave the new series first episode a listen and was really underwhelmed but also annoyed. It’s now apparently a generic, biased look at ‘true crime’ with some quite worrying misogynistic generalisations, within the extremely complex area of intimate partner violence and interpersonal and relational abuse. I think the new host could do with reading about family systems theory if they are going to have such strong opinions. I like Julia and she should maybe have done her own completely new series rather than continue this one which is a shadow of what it was before.”
