Putting pressure on women to run themselves into the ground kind of daily
This podcast is everything that is wrong with being a working mom in the US. The split shift episode basically promotes spending your entire life working or mothering and leaving nothing for your other relationships or yourself. The idea that we should be working 55 hours a week and coming home and caring for kids and getting 10 days a year vacation is crazy. It’s time people with flexible schedules, like the presenter, stopping pushing the idea you should be working the same hours when you have caring responsibilities for children and parents/others. There are only 24 hours a day, add caring responsibilities and you have to give less to work and actually work the hours you’re paid for. That does not make you a failure.
