Shame on you Dear Media
Wow, after enjoying a number of Dear Media podcasts, this was a shocker for me. This is of the scammer true crime genre, but while the scammers are almost always after financial gain, Coco W. is clearly a very damaged individual who is more like someone with Munchausen’s Syndrome (aka Factitious Disorder), a serious mental illness. I think it was said in an early episode that there would be a mental health expert on at some point, but I had to discontinue listening before that, after endless trashing of this very ill young woman by person after person who had nothing whatsoever illuminating to say. You may have disliked her behavior and felt exploited but this was someone who clearly had a compulsion. Decades ago people with substance use disorders were seen the same way (they also steal and lie, etc.) but this was all about the “oh my god!” prurient interest variety. REALLY bad!

It does not sound even...Read full review »
