“This podcast rescued me. I was experiencing PTSD from discovering the extent of my husband’s pornography use, the extremely violent nature of the pornography itself, and that his erectile dysfunction was coming from porn-induced erectile dysfunction (rather than performance anxiety).
Knowledge is indeed power, and especially with this type of disorienting trauma, having the right TERMS to describe what I was going through was POWERFUL. Because I understood the words gaslighting, betrayal trauma, abuse, and boundaries I was able to speak to my husband directly and put our marriage on a better track and begin to heal myself.
My speech to the world is that the medical and scientific communities NEED to take notice of the powerful work these women are doing.
My only critique is I wish they would minimize the religious angle. I recognize it is important to address all issues from a religious and secular perspective to come at a problem from all angles. But, this issue is so urgent and gaining ground in the scientific community. The religious argument unfortunately dilutes the incredible, groundbreaking, science-based work these women are doing.”
