Just discovered this podcast fascinating story. And ostensibly badly handled by Joe Beatie He May have been an excellent decorated detective but He is not infallible I got the impression he had a bit of a “God Complex” not unknown in people of law enforcement especially back then. As for detective “MacInnes” being as “straight as a die “ well that’s as maybe but He was a relative of the suspect “Blood is thicker than water” so who is to say he wasn’t covering for his cousin. The way the victims were described was absolutely terrible it’s hard to believe it’s only 50 years ago such attitudes existed. This case should be reopened again
