Such warm, compassionate and beautiful storytelling. Slow, personal, which could be a problem, but in this podcast it’s an absolut pleasure to listen. Love how music is used too.

Truly in depth and gave us a picture of the victims and their families as real people . The re examination of the case was really interesting and they gave some amazing new details of both investigations .Surely in todays climate there should be another attempt to solve this . Wonderful podcast...Read full review »

The sexism and misogyny is astounding, so tragic for the women and families involved Love the research and delivery, thank you Audrey

It was just the most boring and unoriginal thing I’ve listened to recently. Nothing new was explored, just complaining about police procedure then and now.

This is an excellent podcast that whilst covering such an important part of Scotlands history, it also makes the listener stop in their tracks and think about some the things in life that we are fortunate enough not to experience. I wanted to answer some of the questions posed like when chello...Read full review »

There a new way of looking at serial killers following The Five by Hallie Rubenhold and this does the same excellent job on the Bible John history. Great interviews and storytelling from the victims and their families’ perspective. And don’t worry. There’s also a lot of super investigative...Read full review »

This would have been good if it was four episodes long. It meanders and covers loads of irrelevant material. And then there is no real resolution. Second BBC crime podcast I’ve heard this year that ends up with nothing to show for all the time. Sometimes investigations do not pan out. Write them...Read full review »

Beautifully researched and well presented. An interesting new view on this enigmatic mystery.

Interesting story but the story telling is so slow paced that I completely lost interest.

Really loved the depth, layers and the central story of the victims and Glasgow in the 60s. Thank you.

It’s great that the folk living today are so much smarter, better and more decent than all previous generations. If only the writers of the podcast could have been in charge of the investigation. That aside, we never really get anywhere with this podcast. We are told that the police dismissed the...Read full review »

Audrey, from one journalist to another, thank you so much for your compassionate reporting… I’ve just finished the first series and was so deeply moved by how you have retold this story… and given the families and friends a voice to be able to share who these women were - in reality - and how...Read full review »

I admire the work of the people who made this in centering the women who were murdered. The stories they wound about these women gave something back that was taken from each the night each was murdered: dignity. Patricia, Jemima & Helen did nothing in life to make them less deserving of a...Read full review »

I very much enjoyed this podcast, “British in all the best ways” as another reviewer put it, and thought it was an excellent and very necessary exposé of the misogyny that plagued these cases. I only wish that the lives of the children of Helen Puttock were explored as much as the lives of the...Read full review »

It is so easy to get swept up in the thrill of true crime and completely forget about the victims and their families. With a sensational tabloid news made myth like Bible John it’s a breath of fresh air to see some one look beyond the surface & take the time & consideration to explore the lives of three women, three individuals whose short time on this earth is far more important than whoever murdered them

Extremely thoughtfully told and deeply sad. So important to hear the victims stories and family legacies. Police sexism and judgements were disturbing to say the least.

Thoughtfully put together and sensitive.

Very slow, I found my mind often drifting away from the mono toned presenters voice. I think it could’ve been edited down to half as many episodes with more substance.

I’ve listened to countless podcast shows over the past decade and maybe a dozen long-form true crime shows. To me this stands well above all of the other crime shows. Unrivalled pace, plot development, helpful character reintroduction (no “who’s that?”) ambiance (including a perfectly judged...Read full review »

This was a really amazing piece of journalism/investigation. Hard to beat. Left with mixed feelings. Also the music that accompanied this was very good and fitting. Thank you for bringing these poor women to life.

I’ve had a hard time staying focused on the story while listening to the first few episodes. I attribute that to coming off some of the more gripping, American true crime podcasts. One of the most impactful and gutting podcasts i’ve listened to. The focus on the victims and the long lasting impact that their cruel deaths had on their families gave me pause….. This is class act reporting and producing. I had never heard of this case but the storyline follows familiar themes in policing, culture, hierarchy and patriarchy unfortunately. Marvellous and so sad. I have tears at the end. Frustrating beyond words with how this case was handled but the podcast journeys through it all with great competency and respect to all involved. The gorgeous Scottish accents are kind to the ear too!!

This is an interesting podcast about a subject that I had never heard of. The transition music is very distracting and annoying, however, and by episode 4, got to a point where I had to start fast forwarding segments.
