Immensely powerful, inspirational and informative - longer and more detailed than TED but well worth the extra investment for the many gems to be found.

These Podcasts are absolutely great to people like me who have poor vision and cannot read for long. I am thankful that I am not shut off by eye illness from learning such wide-ranging topics from such experts in their field.

Big Ideas is a long form treatment of topics that are of interest to those who also enjoy TED talks, Seminars on Long Term Thinking (SALT) from the Long Now foundations, etc….

The lectures and talks presented here are a valuable service to progressive thought. Often, the talks are the life's focus of an academic and they precis their conclusions and wonders for anyone with the patience to listen. Treat yourself and subscribe.

Some really good podcasts, some miuch better than others but consistently very sharp, thoughtful people, some of the comments and observations incredibly insightful. Hard to compare to any other podcast. Shows how close we are in the world to Canada and their issues, feels like US issues with...Read full review »

I really like these podcasts! There are a lot of them — a lot of topics. If you like to learn, are somewhat open-minded, and enjoy listening to what others have to say.. Well this is for you! Podcasts take a lot of memory space though.. We should be able to zip them! Imjustsayin ; )

... more sources offering the quality and range of this unbeatable series. The quality varies, of course, but only from 4.5 stars to 5. Some are sublime - doubters are referred to number 49. The whole series offers a finely balanced and fascinating view, sometimes highly amusing, sometimes deeply...Read full review »

Good content and reasoning take time and that is what Big Ideas offers. Better than TED, very worthwhile listening.

I was a great fan of this program from its inception years ago and am very glad it's now podcasted, but it seems no thought was given to this new format; the audio is poor, and there is no editing done to fit the ~ 1 hr limit per episode...except lopping the end off. I'd much rather see fewer but...Read full review »

This podcast presents a variety of interesting topics and the format permits the speakers to illuminate their work on their own terms in contrast to shorter interview segments on radio programs. Forget about old school teachings, Big Ideas offers you the possibility to improve your english skills and, at the same time, suggest new way of seeing things. Every time I have to face a long trip, I stuff my ipod with more than a lecture... I suggest you to do the same!
