“Hi Kristen, thank you so much for your informative podcast.
I feel pregnant a year ago and baby Harry is now nearly 4 months old. I’ve listened to nearly every pod cast episode you’ve done and it was a great tool in my birth.
I had wanted a 100% natural birth and practiced, nourished my body and did everything I could to prepare for this. I was fit and so healthy before Harry was born. I think I made it a bit too good inside for him.
After a 4 day latent phase I requested an induction. I was exhausted as in 4 days I had no respite from the irregular contractions. I had pubic symphysis and struggled to walk, stand or kneel which I believe slowed down my labour. I was 42 weeks so he was baked and ready! After labouring for 14 hours post induction Harry head swelled and my cervix swelled so our option was an emergency c-section. I was really unprepared for this as I never researched this as I had true faith that my body would birth Harry naturally. Turns out the poor kid was stuck. He’d turned around and his head was stuck back, he was born with some larynx issues I believe because of this. So for us the section was the only option but I know if I hadn’t have listened to your pod casts I would have ultimately given up and requested intervention earlier. So, although our labour wasn’t what imagined so much of it was. The support from my husband, the massages, baths, walks, movies we watched, arguments we had. All of it over the 5 days was so special and you really helped give me/us the tools to believe in my body and go the distance.
I can’t wait to try eventually for baby number 2, I will be aiming for a VBAC and I will continue to believe in my body.
So thank you, you’re brilliant.
Kelly, Tim and Baby Harry
Ps. I would love to hear your thoughts on a long latent labour, pubic symphysis and more info on c-sections. I had no idea what or expect and sometimes it is needed.
Thank you again, I’ll keep listening and recommending xx”
