A superior education for mothers
I have a very different background and lifestyle than Kristen’s, so in the beginning I wasn’t sure about whether I wanted to listen to her podcast. Now I am convinced Kristen is the wisest, deepest, warmest, kindest, most bullsh**t-detecting resource out there. I almost wish I hadn’t exposed myself to any other pregnancy culture beyond Kristen’s. Kristen’s waters run deeper. She walks the spiritual path of Ina May Gaskin. If I say that Kristen is spiritual, I am not speaking of any denominational thing related to any organized religion. What I mean is that she sees the transcendent connections between things; she knows that the ability to project consciousness into its richest capacities is not unrelated to the success of a birth, and the health of a baby. At the same time, she is brimming with practical advice and tips. I hope she will always remember how nourishing and supportive she is toward her listeners when she speaks of her own family as well. One of the greatest helps is good examples! By now, having listened to all the podcasts, I feel like I am beginning to piece together how she has raised Cassidy, Asher, Brennan, Galen, Honor, Corwin, and Sadie (although I do not know the spellings of their names, having only heard them spoken!) and this is an enormous help and support to me. Really it is an education. Sometimes I wish she wouldn’t spend so much time apologizing at the beginning of a podcast. She has nothing at all to apologize for! Neither when a podcast is late arriving, nor when there’s been a fussy baby in the background. She’s always awesome, and she should own it. That would be my only critique. Thank you, Kristen, with all my heart.

I have very little in common with the host, Kristen, but I think that is great because I learn so much from hearing her perspective. I really appreciate her positive attitude. I'm sure she is smiling much of the time. She's helped me feel a lot more excited about the birthing experience.Read full review »

I love this podcast! Kristen is always so positive and encouraging. I was able to put her knowledge to use with my second pregnancy and it made all the difference. Birth became an event to look forward to instead of fear and was a very positive and empowering experience. I can't wait to hear...Read full review »
