In this show, I sit down with three of my friends to get an update on the emerging bitcoin 'circular economy' in Madeira, Portugal (where they are all now living), as well as to discuss the upcoming 'Bitcoin Atlantis' conference happening there in March 2024. But first, we get the discussion started talking about recent developments on the Nostr protocol, which both Gigi and Pablo are heavily involved in. Just prior to Bitcoin Atlantis, they will be hosting a 2-month program called...

Every now and then, this crew gets together to discuss the current macroeconomic situation, and of course, the role that bitcoin is playing within it. Given all the crazy shit that's currently going on, I figured it was time for another one. Luke Gromen popped in for the first time during the second half, to share his valuable perspective. Great to have him. Enjoy! -- Follow the guys on Nostr: PRESTON: npub1s5yq6wadwrxde4lhfs56gn64hwzuhnfa6r9mj476r5s4hkunzgzqrs6q7z JEFF:...

Health has been central to my life for more than 20 years, so it's been fascinating (and surprising) to observe the impact which learning about and adopting bitcoin seems to be having on how people approach their diet, fitness, and many other aspects of well-being. What is inspiring this? Is it a 'lower time preference'? More hope and optimism about the future? The effects of encountering some kind of profound truth? To delve into these questions, Nick, a bitcoiner and physical therapist in...

The future of the bitcoin economy will not only be people transacting in bitcoin, but people of all backgrounds, educations, and experiences re-interpreting their professions (and much else), through a 'bitcoin lens'. In keeping with the 'quest for truth' which bitcoin seems to inspire, many people who have gone down the 'bitcoin rabbit hole' have begun questioning the standard dogma as it relates to health, fitness, nutrition, medicine, and have been seeking (and finding) more truthful...

Over the last year or so, Jordan Peterson has been very critical of the quality of online discourse, attributing much of the problem to anonymous/pseudonymous accounts. He refers to such accounts as 'troll demons' or 'dark tetrad types', and has expressed his desire to see them separated from 'verified' users. While his complaints are not unwarranted, I feel that his proposed solutions are overly simplistic, and fail to appreciate the role of anonymous expression, and the dangers/downsides...

In November of 2021, I was fortunate enough to be involved in the filming of a documentary about Bitcoin Beach in El Salvador. Over the last two years, the director and producer have turned it into a beautiful feature-length documentary, which highlights the incredible people and motivations behind this fascinating story / phenomenon. It was released this week on several streaming platforms and networks for markets all over the world, and will soon be available (to purchase with...

The Economic Situation in China has recently been attracting more attention, as a result of several economic indicators showing worrying signs. Despite it's robust growth over several decades, there have long been worries about how much has been fuelled by unsustainable amounts of debt, money printing, and the resultant over-production / malinvestment, particularly in the all-important real-estate sector. That said, many opportunities have been missed, and many macro commentators...

Vivek Ramaswamy burst onto the American political scene in early 2023, after announcing his presidential campaign (on the Republican side). I was immediately struck by his thoughtfulness and eloquence, but even more so by his 'radical' policy positions (which I largely support), and the detail with which he is explaining how he will execute them. Vivek appears to me to be properly diagnosing many of the issues confronting the US (and the world more broadly today), and seems to have a...

Rev.Hodl (@HodlRev) has been building out his homestead operation in Michigan for several years. I had him on the podcast about a year ago to discuss how and why he got started, what he has learned, the details of his operation, and the permaculture philosophy which he has both adopted and added to ('The 8 forms of capital'). He has more recently integrated bitcoin mining into his operation, in various unique and innovative ways, so I invited him back on to share the details of how he is...

He is also the creator of bitcoinerbooks.com, a website with lists and links to books recommended by certain bitcoiners. He recently published an op-ed in Bitcoin Magazine entitled 'To Drive Meaningful Adoption, We Should Accept That Bitcoin Is Not For Everyone'. We'd been meaning to talk for a while, so we used his recent piece as a reason to get tougher for...

Noam Hazan is a physical therapist and independent bitcoin researcher. He recently contacted me and shared with me a link to a nearly 3-hour video presentation in which he delves into bitcoin from 'first principles', through the lens of physics, chemistry, psychology and morality. I found it very interesting, so I invited him on to discuss it in more detail. Jordan Urbs is a musician, digital content creator, bitcoiner, and host of the 'Sovereign States of Mind' podcast. As a result of his views on sovereignty and independence, Jordan and his wife and two young kids are been working on an off-grid homestead in Hawaii for the last few years. He contacted me saying that, while bitcoin is important, there are other aspects of sovereignty that he believes people should be considering. So, he came on to discuss it all. Enjoy! -- More from...

Reed reached out to me a while back, saying that his journey of understanding bitcoin, and all the different disciplines required to do so, had ultimately led him back to god. This inspired him to begin writing about his shift in perspective, in a number of very thought-provoking articles on medium. He asked if I'd be open to a discussion sometime, and I agreed, saying that if it turned out to be interesting, we could put it on the podcast feed. I enjoyed the conversation, and...

Max Hillebrand is a 'free software entrepreneur', the CEO of ckSNACKS (The company leading the development of Wasabi Wallet), a strong proponent of individual liberty, bitcoin educator, and a long-time friend of mine. Max was one of the first guests on this show back in 2019, and I thought, given all the work he has done since then, and the controversy surrounding some of it, as well as all the other development which has occurred in the bitcoin space, it was time to have him back on to...

Pedro is a content creator, communications designer / UX specialist, and the driving force behind a film project called 'The Anatomy of Bitcoin'. Jared is a young bitcoiner from Canada who recently wrote an article about bitcoin 'acceleration theory', a perspective which basically asserts that it's better to accelerate the decline of fiat, so that bitcoin can replace it sooner, rather than delaying that process by opposing any of the 'clown world' policies or people of the day. Jared booked himself on the show to discuss, and I thought it was aw worthwhile topic to explore, so we that's what we did! Enjoy! -- More from...

'DNComply' is a pseudonym for a writer who wishes to remain anonymous, but has nevertheless recently written a thorough introduction to the topic of bitcoin.
