This is not Serial, but it displays all the hallmarks of a thorough piece of journalism

“As an avid podcast listener I was initially a little put off by the upfront declaration of a position albeit with a caveat, and the quality of the music/ sound production; however, after following aspects of this case since its beginning, it was well worth following through in. I had to listen to it twice in two days to make sure I picked up on all the many telling details. There is no getting away from the fact that a whole family was killed execution style, with the most poignant, if you can call it that, detail being the violent struggle for his life that 14 year old Stephen Bain had with his killer. It would have been nice to know more about Stephen from his classmates or friends. What was also interesting is finding that people close to someone could interpret behaviours in such different ways. While not perfect, this podcast definitely warrants listening to; and who knows, it may change some people's minds on a case that has been extremely divisive for a lot of New Zealanders. Yes, one might aspire to hearing another Serial, like S-town, which dropped all episodes in one go and had a fascinating and literary quality to the 'story-telling ; but sometimes hearing the detailed interlocking breakdown of a significant historical case can be sufficient in itself.”Read full review »
