Agenda driven
I tend to side with women and believe women in 99% of all domestic assault and self defense cases. But this thing was setup with an agenda in mind, I wanted a journalist piece that lead me to a conclusion based on the evidence. I believe Devin was abused certainly but there’s an enormous fact that the host glosses over in how the killing was done. If I’m bullied and beaten daily by an aggressive person one day I can’t just walk up and shoot an unarmed unsuspecting person from behind and get off on self defense. Hiding behind things like race and gender does not take away how this happened. If we start permitting that defense aren’t you possibly setting a precedent for a license for people to kill? If you are down with the agenda you’ll like this and nod the whole time, if your looking for a journalist piece on this incident based on facts this one’s not for you.

Podcast was great—binged the whole thing. Deven shot a man who was abusing her and to me it was self-defense from an abuser. While I completely agree racism is a problem in the US, this podcast should focus on how unfair the system is for victims of DV.

I love true crime as much as the next person, but I love the depth, storytelling, and care that Lemonada takes that is unrivaled by any other network or show. Can’t wait to hear this one!

This sorry reminds me of Believe Her. These women are literally tortured for years and eventually they hit a point where they truly believe it’s kill or be killed. Human instinct kicks in and they protect themselves. It’s horrible and we need to raise our men to be better humans.
