Interesting case for discussion. Well produced. Aaand she’s hella guilty
I’m really enjoying this podcast. And while I appreciate the desired angle pointing to this being a race-related case (of which there are obviously many) I don’t think this is one of them. Maybe insofar as the harshness of the sentence, I haven’t seen comps for similar crimes perpetrated by white women. But she killed him while he was asleep instead of walking out the door with her baby. She made a choice to essentially orphan her baby. As a victim of domestic violence myself, I understand the mindf*** of being under someone’s control. But you can’t pretend that suddenly we have no free will at all. She could have walked away. He had a new girlfriend. She could have tried to get away and start a new life if she was just that done. But this does smack of punishment, which I totally get. But you can’t expect to exact revenge murder and get off clean.

More reviews of Blind Plea
Your hard work is evident in this piece. Thank you for shining the light on this case. My heart breaks for this young woman and her family. Maybe one day people will stop saying: “Racism doesn’t exist.”

The subject matter is depressing, but I hope with attention the case will be reviewed. It is depressing, but hopeful.

This story is so captivating… Just listened to episode one and I’m absolutely hooked for the long haul. Lemonada does true crime so well- I’m a huge fan. This series seems to be following in the footsteps of all their other great ones, including Believe Her and The Letter.
