“I’m really enjoying this podcast. And while I appreciate the desired angle pointing to this being a race-related case (of which there are obviously many) I don’t think this is one of them. Maybe insofar as the harshness of the sentence, I haven’t seen comps for similar crimes perpetrated by white women. But she killed him while he was asleep instead of walking out the door with her baby. She made a choice to essentially orphan her baby. As a victim of domestic violence myself, I understand the mindf*** of being under someone’s control. But you can’t pretend that suddenly we have no free will at all. She could have walked away. He had a new girlfriend. She could have tried to get away and start a new life if she was just that done. But this does smack of punishment, which I totally get. But you can’t expect to exact revenge murder and get off clean.”
