Long time listener and primo, I look forward to BARpod every week - funny, informative and love the dynamic between Jesse and Katie

Used to be an essential listen. Now they think they’re Frost/Nixon and it became dull. Shame.

I live in Oak Park and someone suggested the recent episode so I listened. I’ve now lost respect for that someone. If you dig people who think they AREN’T racist and think they ARE funny but are wrong about both, this is the podcast for you. I wish cancel culture existed so someone could put...Read full review »

But it depends on type of movie. Action movies no subtitles. A movie where the voice of the actor matters I only watch with subtitles.

Entertaining and informative podcast. It makes me feel sane in the current socio-political climate. Some of the topics are far more interesting than others. Sometimes the banter between J and K makes me LOL and sometimes it’s a little like “keep the convo moving, plz” anyway, I recommend to...Read full review »

I love the great repartee between Katie and Jesse. It almost doesn’t matter what they’re talking about, they make every subject interesting and fun.

Smart and freaking hilarious.

This podcast is the best thing to come out of the pandemic. Jesse and Katie approach internet controversies with equal parts journalistic integrity and irreverence. They stay too online so I don’t have to! Also, the Primo community is a top notch internet space, you will love it if you’re not an...Read full review »

A podcast by real journalists doing real journalism that is also funny, irreverent and heterodox.

Katie, Jesse, and the rotating band of guest hosts (Helen Lewis!) are delightful.

I have been cooking Katie and Jesse’s recipes for years now and they come out simply delicious every time. Their chicken and keffals is a treat for the whole family.

I usually don’t pay to listen to other people talk but Jesse and Katie can take my money all day. Well researched and very entertaining and varied content. They’re on Twitter so I don’t have to be. As someone who identifies as largely politically homeless, I feel like I’ve found my people here.

Want to know about the key internet culture blow ups without wasting your life trying to piece them together yourself? Listen to this. As humanity spirals into increasingly meaningless and bizarre debates, Katie and Jesse investigate, translate, and verify some of the weirdest beefs in modern...Read full review »

I genuinely wanted to understand the perspectives shared in this show and tried several episodes but it always leaves me feeling gross. They are super dismissive, patronising and do little to no research.
Philippa Rose via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/11/24
A genial pair with a fun smug take on the excesses of American culture, but you both genuinely need a basic education in the history and current reality of Israel and the vast mistruths, distortions and lies adopted uncritically and with severe antisemitic consequences by the pro-Islamist,...Read full review »

I'm downgrading my rating due to reduced free content and mixed hosts. I really loved the Jesse/Katie to and fro. Don't much like the random hosts. I don't live in the US, so can't afford the endless podcast fees.Read full review »

Katie is insufferable and too woke to function.

So much bad faith arguments in this podcast. Both hosts are cynical and patronising. They have very little perspective on the topics they discuss. Very little research also appears to be done.
Thomas Lalevée via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/06/24
Two progressive but wokeness shell shocked millennials with good journalistic values help evaporate the shallow pool of time remaining to you by minutely dissecting woke internet dust ups &c. And yet somehow it’s also the funniest podcast going. Jesse, the indulgent patriarch of the podcast,...Read full review »

(this review won’t be funny, sorry!) i am a 22 year old detransitioner who’s been ousted from her friend group and lost a lot since speaking out about my own medical malpractice story. so, finding this podcast and others like it has legitimately helped so much in the battle to keep my sanity. the...Read full review »

Sometimes being sane on the internet makes you feel like the crazy one. Glad to find some voices out there not trying to polarize us all.

The Cass review episode should not be behind a paywall. This is an extremely important topic and it needs to be broadcast far and wide.

Consistency one of the most thoughtful, interesting and hilariously entertaining podcasts going. Have recommended it many many times. Well done!

The podcast was so listenable the past few weeks in Jesse’s absence…Katie, please start your own podcast with a rotating panel of guest hosts and bring Jesse on like once a year! There’s a limit to how much smarmy self-satisfaction and blatant narcissism I can stomach.

Came for the journalism and stayed for the transphobia.

The best thing about getting up on Monday is listening to this podcast. Katie and Jesse. Have a great chemistry. Although Jesse is gone for a while, she’s made up for his absence with great guests. Keep up the good work.

Is that it gives this podcast good material to report on. Very funny, frank, and insightful.
Type--Writer via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 02/12/24
B&R is not a primary news source but it will help you read the news, learn and understand the world better. It teaches me to look sideways and stories and, although I’m not going to “do the research” every time, I can at least read with a touch more doubt.
Birdbrains82 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/03/24
This is the only podcast I never miss an episode of. Funny, smart and not beholden to any ideology. Transparent in their reporting. Willing to criticize themselves. A model for other podcasts.

The podcast content itself is great. However, their substack community is no better than the interent drama they discuss every week. As a disabled veteran, I was made fun of, trolled, and felt generally unwelcome by other subscribers unless I talked about what the Community wanted to talk about...Read full review »
