If you like board games, you've come to the right place
What I sought in a board game podcast was an intersection between board gaming and the rest of life—something meditative. Voila! This trio is among the best at delimiting the mechanics of a game and expressing how design choices add to or subtract from an experience. They manage to be both respectful and polite while still being entertainingly opinionated and dismissive (e.g. Viticulture, which I love, but which I also love as a target of snarky jokes). They maintain focus and make liberal use of post-editing cuts (you can hear it in the jumps of voice pitch), a habit I very much appreciate. In their topics they are always cogent and incisive. A conversation about gateway games led them to ask whether one SHOULD convert others, which no one has ever bothered about. Discussions about collections led to deeper thoughts on materialism, compulsion, and guilt. Brilliant! I hope they can continue coming up with good questions; it can't be easy. Minor quibbles: they tend to return to the same games often, and sometimes the ribbing teeters from fun to tiresome. But I'm just searching for cons here; I give the show an unreserved recommendation. Thanks for the solid work! I'll be listening from right down the road in Orange County. Sincerely, "Thank God I'm not the Doctor" Phil p.s. really do check out Heart Society. They're bitchin' p.p.s. though I'm a fellow wolverine hater in California and a Michigan State grad who's been bred to always go green, my vote is Red Tank for spearheading the show and drying out the humorRead full review »

Really great podcast, and an excellent addition to my rotation. Interesting, informative reviews with a different honest take on well known games, and introductions to many unknown games. However, ...... The beep noise used as a warning is identical to my headphone low battery sound! Every...Read full review »
