You take the good, you take the bad
I've been listening to Book Fight for a few years now, and I always enjoy it. The style, to me, is perfect. It's a long form podcast from knowledgeable readers/writers who don't take themselves too seriously. For me, the one constructive criticism I'll add is that I wish they covered more traditional fare occasionally, and not just as a result of the fund drive. I enjoy the fact that this is a great place to find obscure, indy books, but I've heard of about ten percent of the books they've covered in the last year and I'm in an MFA program. Even if one out of every three/four podcasts focused on something a bit more popular (Oscar Wao, Jonathan Strange, Brief History of Seven Killings), it wouldn't change the format, style, or focus. There are a lot of books that would be considered more popular lit fiction without having to stray into Steven King or the Oprah Book Club. Tom & Mike talk a lot about driving up listenership, and I think a good way of doing that is to discuss at least some books that the readers have read or are on their to-be-read lists. Don't lose the indies/obscure, but add in some more popular fare. It's not selling out, just widening your focus. In any event, I do really enjoy the podcast and would recommend it to any lit heads.Read full review »

If you were ever fortunate enough to have days when you sat around with hilariously weird yet intellectual friends and talked about good literature and life and strange things you saw on the internet, then good for you. Listening to this podcast is just like that. Enjoy!!

The Book Fight podcast is a barrel of fun. They beat up books with the barrel of their guns of writing-craft-know-how and genuine wit, breaking spines, tearing pages, getting books wet. No litany of destruction will satisfy ‘til whole libraries kneel, agree to comply with their podcast decree,...Read full review »

I love Book Fight. Discovered via a Granta newsletter recommendation last year and have listened every week since. The most entertaining ramblings I’ve ever heard. Though it may sound creepy I feel like Tom and Mike are my friends!
