Not in touch with the current market
Hi guys, I was listening to your episode on looking like a book marketing amateur and am honestly surprised you’re advocating against authors using nda’s based on your limited experience. I’ve had personal experience with an advanced reader leaving reviews on Amazon that announced and slandered my plot points and reveals from several unreleased books into the series after we’d had a personal disagreement - if I didn’t have the nda Amazon wouldn’t have removed the reviews immediately, which they did. I also interact on at least a monthly basis with authors who’s work is stolen by advanced readers and published through Amazon before the author has a chance to publish it. It is a constant threat with devastating effect and not to be ignored. NDAs are simple, non-invasive and while not perfect they’re a part of an authors toolkit.
