This podcast has good content, but the editing bumps it down - they will literally be mid-sentence when suddenly it cuts to an ad with no warning. Then after a couple of ads it picks right back up mid-sentence - totally disruptive, ruins the continuity. This podcast has been going for over a...Read full review »

As a self taught film nerd and an avid reader this podcast manages to teach me something every week! The Margos put in the work and make it fun and engaging every single episode. I appreciate it they have continued to I be there every week since the pandemic started. It’s my pleasure to be a...Read full review »

Love how they provide background on authors, writers, and directors. Enjoy how they dissect the movie or book, especially when I know one or the other.

They recap clearly, compare fairly, and bring insight and laughter to every episode.

The Margos are great at summarizing and analyzing books, movies, and everything in between. Hilarious hosts and I learn something new every episode! -Ama

Such a great idea for a podcast! I’m really enjoying looking through their archives and finding movies I've seen but have never had the chance to read the source material (there’s quite a few!). For far my favorite episodes have been Don’t Look Now, Misery, Vacation, It’s A Wonderful Life and...Read full review »

Wonderful podcast - thank you for bringing attention to banned books!

A reasonable idea for a podcast but these two sound like high schoolers who just barely remember the movie or the book and barely understood either one. They describe Oscar Wilde as the Kim Kardashian of his day. What!?

I found this because I was looking for podcasts on Cary Grant but now I’m following and enjoying exploring all of these podcasts. I’ve only listened to a few so far but each is fascinating and enjoyable. I’ve not come across the idea of comparing films with the original book or play before. The...Read full review »

I absolutely love this show! It’s been a tough couple of years but this show has been absolutely amazing during this time! Keep it up guys! Could you please try War of the worlds by H. G. Wells and the 2005 movie that would be amazing!

These ladies have wonderful personalities/podcast personas, I just wish more of the details were correct. For instance, in the first episode I have listened to (TPODG), they thought Gladys was in the book and movie, when she was only in the book, and also said that Basil was killed before the 18...Read full review »

I really enjoy this podcast. Fun concept. There are a lot of more movies that have been adapted from books and short stories than I was aware of. The Margos are warm and funny- really comforting in the time of Covid.

I first started listening to thrips podcast during spooky season, and loved it. I have been inspired to read a lot of the books that the ladies discuss and most recently, the West Side Story episode made me want to join their discussion and cry over the beauty of the movie. If there was going to be an award for the best idea for a podcast, I’d nominate this one. Two close friends talk about the original work—usually a novel, then the adaptation. They’re not experts on literature or cinema history, but they happen to like books and movies. I’ve been in a “movie...Read full review »

I needed something to get me through a ten hour holiday drive and discovered this on a whim. I ended up listening to it the whole time both ways! I love that the hosts include their opinions and give insight into the book/movie backstory. Would love to see more animated and fantasy movies. ;)

I’ve been going through the back catalogue over the past few months and have been loving every minute of it. It’s refreshing to have equal time spent delving into the book and the movie, especially in such a relaxed and engaging conversation. Really love it as someone who likes books and seeing how it compares to the movies. They do the podcast through video chat so sound quality isn’t always the best (which I get, they live on opposite sides of the country). They repeat episodes a lot which I don’t get.
