Almost there, but the judgmental comments aren’t helpful.
The positive: The host sounds clear, motivated and knowledgeable. She clearly has done the work! I am very much drawn to listen to her, as she has “walked the walk.” I also admire the way she breaks down complex concepts into teachable nuggets of information. It’s almost like sitting in class. Additionally, I absolutely love the practical advice she offers. It’s tangible, yet emotionally relatable. I seek that in every therapist. She’s a natural at it. To be clear- I don’t think I can ever stop listening to this podcast, despite the cons stated below. It just needs some refinement. The negatives: Let me start by saying, these are only stated for the host to improve the show. I do see great value in the show and the host. I want it to grow to its fullest potential. Judgmental comments during recording- she has her way of empathizing with the person on the other side, then she basically damages that connection by adding comments such as “I’ve been there. But knowing what I know now, I’m disgusted by this behavior..” *add multiple puke noises* after every judgement filled sentence. This is just one example, there are many ways she passes judgement towards someone she is supposedly trying to help. If she weren’t advertising herself as a licensed therapist, I’d get the reactions. However, it was quite sad to hear her create trust and then pass judgement in the same breath. It’s very unprofessional. She used this platform to educate and promote her therapist business. Unfortunately, many folks don’t want to call a therapist that has shared personal judgement for the reason they need help. It’s just bad for business, and bad if you are trying to create a connection with the listener/potential client. - Many concepts are shared as if they are proven by data and research, but they are basically just her opinion. For example, in one episode she mentions how having an orgasm limits creativity. How it is a masculine activity. This concept is not backed by data/science, but she shares it not as her hypothesis but as a fact. Again, quite unprofessional and irresponsible for licensed therapist. My hope is that, overtime, the host will make improvements to this podcast and this 3 star rating will switch to 5 stars. She clearly has the potential.
