A Fantastic Look Back at F1
A wonderfully interesting Podcast that gives a very well researched look back into the stories of F1’s V10 era. The host & guests are amazingly passionate and informed about their chosen topic and it is always an entertaining and interesting listen. Would love to hear more about the Adrian Newey move to Jaguar which has been mentioned a few times. Question for the Season Finale goes back again to Adelaide 94. I’ve read that Williams Strategy for the race was for Mansell to hold up Schumacher to allow Hill to attack & have the best chance of taking the Championship. However, I believe I read in the Autosport 94 Special that Mansell said he was told not to get in the way, so purposefully made a bad start. Was this Mansell covering for the fact he made a bad start, purposefully making a bad start as he didn’t want to help Hill or doing as he was told and not getting in the way? If the latter who told him not to get in the way (Bernie?) and would this been part of the reason Williams didn’t go racing with Mansell in 95? Drivers paid not to Race (think there’s a few Williams ones!) would also make for a great Episode.

This series is a great look at all sorts of stories and behind the scenes stuff that happened in one of the great F1 eras. Glenn does a great job of weaving the stories all together with guests. I always learn something about the sport on these podcasts.

Suggestions for episodes: 1) the Mercedes Junior team (Schumacher, Frentzen, Wendlinger). At the time, who did Mercedes thing was the surest bet? 2) Michael Andretti’s disastrous F1 career. What went wrong? 3 Jacques Villenueve’s Williams’ test before being signed.
