A fantastic, thorough, warm & witty podcast
British Sitcom History is an excellent show in which brothers Gareth and Allen look at sitcoms from all eras, both classic and obscure. Each sitcom gets two episodes of about 40 - 50 minutes each so there’s plenty of time to cover the writers, directors, cast, production history, audience response and Gareth and Allen’s personal opinions, as well as related shows and other miscellany. Though thoroughly researched, this is clearly done from a love of the subject and the joy of getting to watch episodes, and this comes through in the warm, accessible style. The subjects are dissected carefully, fairly and incisively so all the pros and cons of each series are acknowledged. This is far better than a series that just sings the praises of established classics and tears apart lesser shows. Fans of sitcoms, or those looking to become fans of sitcoms, will find much to love here. I always look forward to my weekly episode.

I’ve really enjoyed listening to these so far. Only Dear John has been one that I’ve never really heard of or seen anything about. That doesn’t necessarily matter as you get a good sense of the show from their discussion. Thanks guys!

I don’t like this podcast any more. It used to be entertaining but now it’s just mean spirited, especially the KUA one. I feel like the presenters are being snobby, as if the show is below them. Why review it if all you are doing is sneering and sniggering like arrogant idiots? Unfollowed.
